Last Class @ XLRI

Today we will attend our last class at XLRI and a 1 year long journey will come to an end.
I vividly remember my first day...the Prof. started discussing abstract concepts like linearity of a circle while explaining the case methodology & also stressing the importance of putting our thoughts in spatio temporal coordinates and explicitly stating the implicit assumptions. At the time, I used to wonder what the hell is going on :-)
The 1 year journey has been an overwhelming experience for all of us. For me it was filled with fun, laughter & jokes all the way. I would take this opportunity to acknowledge that its been a privilege sharing the same space with a group of diverse & brilliant set of individuals like the current batch of GMPians. The GMP spirit will continue to remain forever in our hearts...

Hi Indranil
Thx a lot for all the information. It would be helpful if u could throw some light on the dilemma faced by most of the students for GMP 2008-09. The offer letter says that for course registration candidate shld have either relieving letter or study leave sanction from last employer. As u know most of the companies ask for 3 mths notice period so it is difficult to get reiliving letter at such a short notice. Also there is problem if one opts for study leave. The offer letter says that Institutes placement facility is available to those students who r not sponsered or on study leave. Please advise regding this as someone in ur batch must hv faced the same dilemma.
Pl. confirm whether someone on study leave can participate in the placement activities.

Thx
Krishna

Hi Krishna,

I can understand your predicament. Try to arrange for a provisional relieving letter from the organization or at least an acceptance of resignation. That should be fine.
Regarding your next question, only people who have resigned are allowed to participate in placements. The reason is that when a company grants study leave it is with a good faith that the employee will return back after completion of the course. Under such circumstances it is an unethical practice to interview with another company.
Furthermore, it would also amount to injustice towards other candidates who have already left their jobs and dared to take a risk at this critical juncture. One cannot have his cake & eat it too :-)

Indy

Hey Indy ,
Like always your posts are very informative. I wish you all the best as you turn pages of the new chapter of your life.
I am in same dilemma as Krish and i guess i may have to give some monetary compensation to get the relieving letter. However if a temp letter would do , i probably might want to finish my 90 days.
